Sarbacane , a center cockpit B layout, hull #192 is fiberglass sandwich construction using closed-cell PVC foam core, Airex. Airex productlist.pdf AIREX Data Sheet.pdf Closed-cell PVC foam does not deteriorate or absorb water. Fiberglass schedule uses heavy hand lay-up mat and roving. The composite structure serves both as a buoyancy material and shock, sound and temperature insulator. It rides quiet, increases impact strength and eliminates condensation build-up inside the hull. Decks are fiberglass sandwich construction. Sarbacane has always sailed in cold water around 7°C ( 44° F ) on the St-Lawrence River , for six months a year. Out of the water she stands on a trailer covered with a winter canvas way down to her floating line from the end of october to the first week of may. Her woodwork is all teak and mahogany. Mahogany was used for the structure and teak for woodwork finish. A diesel aluminum tank of 130 galllons, 4 stainless steel water tanks of 50 gallons each, 2 stainless steell septic tanks 30 gallons each. All electric cables our installed with high quality commercials wires, the multilegged tin conductors are surrounded by two sheets of opper forming a Farady cage.
